Morgul Dagger – Blade of the Nazgûl
The Morgul dagger was the Witch-king’s weapon when he struck Frodo at Weathertop. The tip snapped off inside the wound. It crept toward the heart, working to drag Frodo into the wraith-world for good. And only Elrond’s skill kept it from finishing the job. One stab, and the Morgul dagger earned its place among the most feared weapons in all of fantasy. That’s the source this piece draws on.
The 49 cm (19.29″) blade sits on a 70 cm (27.56″) frame. Basically, its reach closer to a short sword than a knife. It’s fitting, given the original was carried by riders who answered to the Dark Lord himself. The silhouette is deliberately weathered and predatory, finished in dark, corrupted fittings that echo the broken architecture of Minas Morgul rather than the clean geometry of an Elven or Gondorian blade.
This is a functional, sharpened blade, not a prop-store lightweight. At 1030 g (2.27 lbs) there’s real mass behind it, and the balance sits roughly 2 cm (0.79″) ahead of the guard. Almost in the hand. It keeps the point quick and controllable instead of nose-heavy.The result handles like a working short dagger: it thrusts with intent and the live edge will cut.
The blade is built thick through the spine, with a distal taper running 6 mm (0.24″) at the base down to 4 mm (0.16″) toward the point, holding the heavy, aggressive profile while shedding a little weight forward.
It earns its keep as a centrepiece in a Ringwraith or dark-fantasy display, and it photographs well under low, moody light – the matte fittings and uneven edge take shadow the way the design intends.

FAQs:
Is the Morgul Dagger sharp? Yes. It ships with a sharpened, functional live edge. It has a presence and point control rather than dedicated test-cutting, so treat it as a working sharp blade, not a competition cutter. You can order it blunt/unsharpened.
Is it a dagger or a short sword? Technically it sits between the two. At 70 cm (27.56″) overall with a 49 cm (19.29″) blade it has more reach than a typical dagger, but it’s a Morgul-knife of Nazgûl lore and it is a dagger.
Is this an official Lord of the Rings product? No. It’s an independent, Morgul-inspired collector’s piece, not licensed Tolkien or film merchandise.
How heavy is it, and how does it handle? It weighs 1030 g (2.27 lbs), with the balance about 2 cm (0.79″) from the guard. The near-hand balance keeps the point lively and easy to control despite the mass.
What is it best suited for? Display, collection, cosplay, and photography, with the added option of being a genuinely sharp, functional blade for those who want one.
