The Blade Truth Standard

Steel Truth

The blade is 5160 high-carbon spring steel, oil-tempered. That alloy carries carbon and chromium with spring-grade resilience, so the blade absorbs shock and flexes under load instead of taking a set or snapping. It holds an edge. High-carbon steel also rusts if you ignore it, which is the honest trade for that performance.

Build Truth

The tang runs the full length of the grip and is peened over the pommel, not welded on as a rat-tail stub. Full-tang construction gives the sword its balance and its margin for real handling.

Use Truth

At roughly 1.5 kg (3.3 lb), the sword moves like a longsword rather than a costume prop. It handles display, cosplay, photography, stage choreography, and controlled cutting on suitable soft targets such as tatami, water bottles, or pool noodles.

This is a functional fantasy longsword, not a HEMA tournament feder or a historical reproduction tuned for full-contact sparring. Hand-forged, one at a time

Each blade starts as a bar of 5160 spring steel and takes shape under the hammer rather than coming out of a casting mould. After forging, the blade goes through heat treatment and an oil quench. A smith then grinds the fuller, sets the edge, and fits every component by hand. Peening the tang over the pommel locks the whole assembly together and keeps it tight through years of handling.
