Type XIIa Medieval Longsword – Battle Ready Spring Steel Sword for Cutting, Reenactment and Collection

Some swords look good on a wall. This one works in your hands. Smiths forged this Type XIIa longsword from high-performance spring steel and shaped it after historically documented European sword geometry. It is built for cutters, reenactors, and collectors who want a sharp, functional sword with genuine historical grounding.

Why the Type XIIa Works

The Type XIIa blade features a pronounced distal taper. The blade loses mass toward the point in a deliberate, controlled way. This shifts the point of balance closer to the hand. Cuts align naturally. Edge geometry tracks cleanly through the target.

The point of balance sits 9 cm from the guard. That position produces a lively, controlled feel across solo cutting work. It supports long-edge cuts, draw cuts, and diagonal strikes through appropriate cutting targets.

Blade and Construction

Spring steel gives this sword flexibility and tensile strength together. It resists bending under load and returns to true after stress. Flex resistance rates at 14 kg, making it resilient enough for regular cutting use.

The genuine leather grip compresses under pressure, reducing hand fatigue during extended sessions. The peened pommel locks the tang mechanically and distributes stress across the full construction. This keeps the hilt solid under long-term use. Stainless steel fittings with a satin finish complete the hilt and resist corrosion.
